Celtic Nations Festival

18th Annual Celtic Nations Festival On March 27th, 28th, 29th, 2009, the Celtic Nations Festival will be held on the grounds of the Lake Charles Civic Center,  in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Festival will feature entertainers such as Danny O’Flaherty, Poor Man’s Fortune, Celt Iberia, and Jimmy Crowley, as well as workshops ranging from beginner’s Irish to a tutored Scotch tasting. There will be Celtic vendors, Celtic food, the World Cup Currach Regatta, Celtic dancers, a Cultural Pavilion and a children’s area.


Admission to the event is $10 a day for adults and $7 a day for children. The site opens up at 10:00 on Saturday with the opening ceremony starting at 10:30 sharp. There will be a short dedication in the memory of Nancy O’Connell followed by a massed pipe band entrance, followed by a music set by Danny O’Flaherty. Music and dance sets will follow through the day, along with workshops and demonstrations of Celtic athletics and games. Music will continue into the night at the pub, where participants can mingle with performers at the session and ceili.

 

Sunday, the gate opens at 11:00 and the entertainment starts again, with scheduled music and events  until 6:00pm.
